There is no national shortage of building materials. Scotland’s chronic shortage of homes is caused by the government’s policy of encouraging speculation in land. These articles discuss how inflated site values and the banking of unused sites as investments, mean places to build are scarce and expensive. Collecting the AGR would automatically render land for homes both plentiful and affordable.
